Help Members in Need
The following Chevrot (friendship groups) have been established to enable members to help each other in times of need.
Chevra Bikur Holim
This mitzvah fellowship provides meals, transportation, and respite for those temporarily in need of assistance during times of illness or family emergency. We have a group of wonderful B’nai Shalom volunteers dedicated to offering support to people who are ill or recovering from an illness or operation. We can transport people to medical appointments, visit the home bound, provide meals, and help with shopping and other support. If you or someone you know could use this help, please contact Anita Hobesh via the synagogue .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we can make the appropriate arrangements.
Chevra Kadisha
B’nai Shalom facilitates traditional Jewish funerals and burials. Required rituals are performed according to accepted Jewish law and practice in cooperation with Sinai Memorial Chapel. A team of volunteer congregants assists the Chapel in completing and conducting the halachic preparations of tahara (ritual purification) and shmira (guarding the body) for our members. A Chapel office is located nearby in Lafayette. Families with funeral needs should contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or the Chapel directly.
