Core Values

תורת חיים

A Living Torah

We believe that the Torah is the heritage of the Jewish people. At the same time, we believe that, through study and interpretation, the Torah becomes a living document, revealed anew to each generation. It is our responsibility to make the Torah and its teachings relevant to modern life.

בצלם אלוקים

“In the Image of God”

We believe that humanity is created in the image of God. We are committed to inclusion for all, and are welcoming to interfaith families, and to people of all races, abilities, ages, gender expressions, and sexual orientations.

תיקון עולם

Repairing the World

We believe that it is our shared responsibility to continuously contribute to improving God’s creation. Through acts of צדקה (philanthropy),  חסד (loving kindness), and הכנסת אורחים  (welcoming the stranger), we strive to bring into being a more just and equitable world.

אהבת ישראל

Love of the Jewish People

We believe in the shared destiny of the Jewish People domestically, abroad, and in the State of Israel. We are committed to combating antisemitism and to strengthening the solidarity of the Jewish people around the world. We believe that Judaism is best practiced in a קהילה קדושה—a sacred community, and we aspire to make our congregation a center of Jewish life.

מסורתיות

Tradition

We believe that Jewish identity is strongly linked to a sacred cluster of Jewish practices, including the Hebrew language, the celebration of Shabbat and Festivals, and the observance of Kashrut. We strive to maintain these traditions, while continuing to explore innovative approaches to Judaism.

תלמוד תורה

Lifelong Learning

We believe that education is the sustaining wellspring of the Jewish people. We are dedicated to supporting learners of all ages and abilities on their path of Jewish learning.
