Hi All:

I want to let you all know that I have registered for the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) 2021 Virtual International Convention, Sunday, June 6th-Sunday, June 13th. If you have never been to an in-person FJMC Convention, this event will give you a taste of what it is like. The majority of the events will take place on both Sundays, but there will be programming in the evenings during the week, as well.. Also, there will be a Cantor’s Concert, a highlight of every convention, with some of the most renown cantor’s in the world performing in a variety of styles, including Broadway.

Please join me in representing Walnut Creek, CA and the CBS Men’s Club at this event. This event for the week is $36. It is being offered to members of the Western Region of the FJMC, like yourself, for $18. .

To register, go to FJMC - A Taste of Convention (fjmcconvention2021.org) and when beginning to register, type in promotional code western$18cpk as you begin this process. Again, the regular price is $36, so there is both savings and value with this event. For more information about the convention, go to https://whova.com/web/fjmcb1_202106/Agenda   and you can see the agenda by day and date. Please note that times are listed in Eastern Standard Time, so make sure to subtract 3 hours for Pacific time. For example, if a program is listed to start at 4:00 PM, that means it will start at 1:00 PM Pacific time.

I hope you are able to join me for all or part of the convention. I am certain that it will be a positive experience for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Shavua Tov,

Jon Medwin

I hope you and your families are doing well. As you may know, the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) has had to cancel their in-person convention that was scheduled for June 30th-July 4th in Chicago due to COVID related issues. Instead, the FJMC has been very busy putting together a great Virtual Convention.

1) 2021 FJMC International Convention https://www.fjmcconvention2021.org/
This year’s convention will be held via Zoom the week of June 6-13, 2021 (evenings only) and will be packed with amazing speakers, educational sessions, scotch tasting, Torch Awards, Ma’Asim Tovim Awards, Quality Club Awards, and our world famous Cantor’s Concert. The cost is $36. All Western Region convention attendees which includes CBS Men’s Club members can use the discount code western$18cpk to receive half off the registration fee. I encourage everyone in our club to attend to get a taste of what Convention is all about. Register for Convention at: https://www.fjmc.org/convention-2021.

2) Ma’Asim Tovin Ad Journal – Aren Horowitz has been chosen by our Western Region to receive the prestigious 2021 Ma’Asim Tovim Award. This honor will be bestowed on Aren during the FJMC Convention. I’m encouraging all clubs to honor Aren and all that he has done for our region by purchasing an ad in the Convention Ad Journal in honor of Aren. The deadline for placing an ad is May 31st.https://www.fjmc.org/2021-tribute-journal

3) Quality Club Awards – The Quality Club Award recognizes clubs that meet certain mandatory and voluntary requirements. Winners will be announced the 2021 FJMC Convention. Our club will be submitting this application shortly.

4) Torch Awards – Deadline is rapidly approaching! Rest assured, the CBS Men’s Club has already submitted our application.

It would be wonderful to get a large contingent of our club members registered for this virtual convention, and to give you a taste of what convention is all about when it is normally held in-person. If you go to Convention 2021 | Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (fjmc.org) you will get a taste of what is being offered every day by hour during the convention. Please note that this page continues to be updated.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

Shavua Tov, Jon Medwin

Rabbi Liben, who taught the training at our convention last summer, leads a Virtual Mindfulness Service on Sundays at 9 AM EDT.

Due to increased online security concerns, Temple Israel of Natick no longer provides links to their services on their website, only via emails sent directly from the synagogue. In order to receive the link to the service fill out this form requesting to receive the temple emails for the purpose of attending the Mindfulness Service. It may take a few days to be added to their list. It is not something you can do the night before the service.

Nine AM EDT may be too early for our west coast brothers, but we have recordings of previous weeks on our Mindfulness Service website which also contains a Leader’s guide and audio/video recordings of the meditations, kavanot, chants and nigguns.
