Join us as we learn about the revival of the Hebrew language at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. We will explore the great Hebrew writers, beginning with the revival of the language in Eastern Europe and following its development in Mandatory Palestine and its flourishing in the modern State of Israel. Following The Oxford Book of Hebrew Short Stories, we will read (in translation) authors including M. Z. Feirerberg, S. Y. Agnon, Yehuda Amichai, Amos Oz and others. An effort will be made to provide Hebrew language texts for those who’d like.
