Author Rachel Shteir will talk about one of the most significant individuals in the battle to extend equality to women—Betty Frieden. This new portrait of the author and activist acclaimed as the mother of second-wave feminism shows her as the pathbreaking author of The Feminine Mystique. Under her influence, she co-founded the National Organization for Women and other important organizations. She fought for the Equal Rights Amendment and universal childcare among other causes.
