Location: Social Hall
Ḥazzan Bernstein and members of the B’nai Shalom Ritual Committee will discuss and demonstrate all the ritual and logistical pieces of the Torah Service. Whether you are a regular at services or not, you can learn not only what we do, but why we do, and how we do. And even some wheres and whens and when nots too! We’ll run through the Torah Service with lots of explanation and answer all your questions. You’ll get a chance to learn to lift the Torah (hagbah) and how to dress the Torah (glilah). You learn how to carry the Torah, and yes there is a right way—there always is, isn’t there? Most frequently asked question: Why do we hold our pinkie finger up when the Torah is lifted?
