A four-week course of Jewish American Short Stories, given through OLLI at Cal State/East Bay in Concord. IB Singer, Bernard Malamud, and Grace Paley along with contemporary writers Nathan Englander and Steven Stern. These stories break our hearts, reach our souls, yet somehow manage to make us smile, even laugh.
Laura Bernell imparts passion and insights into literature, especially Jewish Literature.
Laura has a master’s degree in literature from Santa Clara University. She taught at the college level for more than 37 years. Since retiring, she has continued to develop and teach courses for OSHER LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTES (OLLI) at Cal State/East Bay and UCSC Extension. She lives in Walnut Creek.
