Michael Cooper is a Berkeley native who moved to Jerusalem in 1966 and later earned his medical degree from Tel Aviv University. After a 40-year career as a pediatric cardiologist in Northern California, he now volunteers regularly in the West Bank, treating Palestinian children.
In mid-life, Cooper turned to writing historical fiction. His award-winning novels—Foxes in the Vineyard, The Rabbi’s Knight, Wages of Empire, and Crossroads of Empire—span eras from the Crusades to WWI, all linked by themes of Jerusalem, the St. Clair bloodline, and the pursuit of peace.
