Join us at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 27 at the Lafayette Library to see one of the best films of our 2026 festival. Tatami is an outstanding movie directed by Israeli Academy Award-winning Guy Nattiv and Iranian director Zar Amir Ebrahim.
Set during an intense day at a World Championship judo event , this movie introduces us to rising Iranian judo competitor Leila and her coach Maryam. While they are intent on winning Iran’s first gold medal in the games, the government of the Islamic Republic tells Leila to fake an injury rather than compete with an Israeli player. Should she follow her government’s orders or stay in the competition and fight for her dream of victory? Admission: Free for $1,000 and up donors; $12 for other attendees signing up prior to August 27 at 3 PM and $15 at the door. Co-sponsors: Congregation B’nai Shalom and Contra Costa JCC.
