East Bay International Jewish Film Festival Presents: Anton & Around the World with Fred: Ukraine
Sunday, December 11, 2022
7:00PM - 8:30PM
Location: Online
On Sunday, December 11, at 7 PM PST, award-winning author and historian Fred Rosenbaum will dig deep into the century-old tensions between Ukraine, Russia and the region’s Jewish population in preparation for the streaming of the powerful drama Anton. The drama will stream December 12 through December 16.
1919, Ukraine. The world is torn by hatred and revenge in the wake of the First World War and the Russian Revolution. Anton, a Catholic, and Jakob, a Jew, refuse to let their religious differences prevent a friendship. Their story unfolds in a small village near the Black Sea, a region settled by German families many decades earlier, and where Jakob’s family lives.
Admission to Rosenbaum’s talk and the film streaming: $14. Free for IJWC Year-round 2022-23 subscribers who will receive complimentary registration to both. Upon registration, you will receive an order confirmation which will include the Zoom link to the lecture. You will receive a reminder a few minutes before the film begins streaming on Eventive.
