Can Israeli Innovation Help Solve California’s Water Crisis?
Tuesday, January 24, 2023
7:30PM - 8:30PM
Location: Online via Zoom
From drip irritation to the recycling of waste water and desalinization, Israeli environmentalists have devised strategies for the smart use of water. Dr. Clive Lipchin, the Arava Institute’s leading scientist for water management, will explore these and other Israeli innovations and examine how they may be able to help solve California’s water crisis.
Lipchin oversees research projects that focus on transboundary water and environmental problems facing Israel, Jordan and Palestine. A recent project funded by the European Union brings together researchers from Europe and the Middle East to study cooperation in river basin management. Current Israeli research has also focused on how to bring more water to the “dying” Dead Sea.
Sponsored by Congregation Beth Emek and the Contra Costa JCC in partnership with BA-JAIN, Congregation B’nai Shalom, Congregation B’nai Tikvah, JEICOR and Diablo Valley Hadassah.
