World Music Shabbat with Lior Ben-Hur

The Shir Hadash band is joined by special guest artist, world music superstar Lior Ben-Hur.
With their positive message, uplifting melodies and a unique refreshing approach, this San Francisco-based band represents a new generation of World music. Born in Jerusalem, with Greek and Iraqi roots, Lior Ben-Hur has traveled to over a dozen countries where he spent time learning, performing and sharing experiences with musicians and artists around the globe.
Lior has been writing songs based on Jewish texts for several years, inspired by his experience as a foreigner in this Jewish-American world. “We need to bridge to what kids are listening to—rap, hip-hop and reggae—and in the kids’ experience, bridge between their secular worlds and their Jewish world,” he says. “Music is such a powerful tool.”
