The Violins of Hope Concert: Along the Trade Route

This concert coincides with the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, one of the many concentration camps where Jewish musicians were forcibly directed to perform. Each of our musicians will play a violin once owned and played by a prisoner in a Nazi camp, now repurposed as an instrument of peace, social justice and hope:
- Cookie Segelstein is on the staff at Living Traditions’ KlezKamp and Klezzfest London.
- Emmanuel Durin, an Iranian-born musician and composer, is a master of Persian music
- Darcy Noonan studied classical music and Irish dance and later began playing Irish fiddle.
- Suzy Thompson apprenticed with Cajun fiddle legend Dewy Balfa
